My Mosaic By MyFirstApp.com – Great pattern matching app good for ABA (FREE w/In App purchase)

My Mosaic
Quick Review: I am always looking for apps that gives kids the model and allow them to copy the model. This is one of those apps and it comes from one of my favorite developers MyFirstApp.com.  This developer has been consistently producing apps to teach basic  skills that no one else is touching yet they are so critical for so many special needs kids.   This app has a model and kids copy the model by dragging the colored circles to the right place. When once complete it should match the model.  The app is beautifully done. It comes with 2 models but you can buy the entire set for $0.99 if you like the app.
IEP Goals/Skills Covered: visual perception skills, fine motor, hand eye coördination.

Notes from developer

My Mosaic helps develop visual perception skills and hand eye coordination. The game also requires and helps develop perseverance, diligence and accuracy. It is designed for children aged 4+ years old..

HOW TO PLAY: Each board features a pattern made of 64 circles of seven different colors. The aim of the game is to copy the pattern by using a color palette placed at the bottom.

This game is one of a series of educational games for kids by MyFirstApp.com. We believe that learning, playing, exploring and experimenting is what children do best. Children are fascinated with the wonderful, exciting world around them. With the touch pads revolution a whole new world of games is evolving – opening new horizons for the very young. Thus, young children can now enjoy colorful, exciting new games, helping them acquire new cognitive and fine motor skills. MyFirstApp.com helps bringing this new and enriching world to the curious little fingers of young children.

I am a strong believer that technology not only makes the learning process much more fun, but it also creates allows a more hands-on experience for kids! If you are interested in other educational products for kids, I would check out our educational apps! :)

I am a special education teacher and I do love this app; however, being a public school we need to purchase our apps through Apple’s Volume Purchase Program (VPP) and apps such as these with “in-app” purchasing are not able to be purchased through the VPP. My students are therefore stuck with the first two boards on each app, it is very disappointing.
